A Morning at Fetch

The Grooming
Day-in-Life

Every appointment follows the same rhythm. Scroll through a morning at the studio — from the moment your Lab bounds through the door to the proud departure photo.

Morning Arrival

Your Lab hits the studio door already vibrating. We check in by name — the dog's name, not yours — and do a quick coat assessment right in the entry. We're looking at density, current shed cycle, any matting near the elbows.

Undercoat Assessment

Before water touches the dog, we part the topcoat and read the undercoat. Summer blowout or winter build-up? We decide here whether this needs a standard bath or a full strip. Most Labs need more than they're getting.

Hydrotherapy Bath

We pre-soak the undercoat for 8 minutes before shampoo touches it. Cedar and oat formula, diluted exactly for double-coat penetration. Two passes. The first loosens; the second cleans. Conditioner only on the topcoat.

High-Velocity Dry

This is where the work happens. A high-velocity dryer at 80% power, moving in the direction of coat growth, blasting out the undercoat that the bath loosened. This takes 35–45 minutes for a standard Lab. We don't rush it.

The Finishing Brush-Out

Slicker brush first, then a wide-tooth comb to confirm no undercoat remains. We finish with a soft bristle brush to lay the topcoat flat. Cedar spritz. The coat should feel like a fresh-laundered blanket.

11:00 AM — The Proud Departure

Cedar-scented. Plush to the touch. Your Lab walks out the door and strangers on the sidewalk reach down without asking. That's what a proper coat day feels like.

Lab Owner Stories

What they say
after pickup

"Drove 40 minutes past three other groomers. First time anyone has actually understood Maple's double coat. She came home looking like a show dog and didn't shed for six weeks."

"The seasonal blow-out is the only thing standing between us and a house full of fur tumbleweeds. They pull out an unbelievable amount of undercoat. My vacuum has never been happier."

Biscuit · Chocolate Lab, 6 yrs
Marcus Webb, bearded man in his 40s, Chocolate Lab owner in Seattle

Marcus Webb

"Brought my 14-week-old puppy for the First Timer. She was nervous about the dryer. They spent 20 extra minutes just letting her sniff it. That's the kind of detail that builds trust."

Juniper · Black Lab puppy, 14 wks
Priya Nair, woman with dark hair, new puppy owner in San Francisco

Priya Nair

"I've been debating undercoat rakes versus slicker brushes with my vet for two years. The groomer here settled it in the first five minutes of the coat assessment. Finally, someone who knows."

Hank · Yellow Lab, 3 yrs

"The cedar finish spritz is the kind of detail that makes you realize this isn't a regular groomer. My dog smells like a forest cabin for two weeks. Strangers stop us every single walk."
